Alaska Trip Denali National Park - Iditarod Dogs
These are pictures we took while at Mt Mckinley Wilderness Lodge near the town of Talkeetna and very close to Denali State and National park. This was a visit to the Park that offered the tour of the sled dogs. These dogs are used mainly for supply runs and not racing. I guess maybe the page should read as "Sled Dogs" vs. "Iditarod Dogs". These dogs live to run and get extremely excited when a team is being assembled on the sled. In this exhibit they actually ran a dry run on the path. They couldn't wait to run. We took a short video of the run and the noise is amazing. No way they were going to sneak up on you, at least not in this short run. Amazing animals doing what they love to do. It's dogs how could you not love it? Made sure to wash the clothes before we came home so Dixie wouldn't disown us. She seemed happy when we did get home!
